laSIA small-scale project.
On June 11 the Sala Rekalde hosted the reading of Francesco Petrarca's letter, Relatives IV, 1: The ascent to Mont Ventoux, as the beginning of a small project entitled Ascenso al Serantes (after Petrarca). The letter, dated by Petrarch in 1336, is usually considered a key text in the history of mountaineering; in the story the aesthetic perception of nature and the weight of moral allegory converge.
The session had the generous presentation of Iñigo Ruiz Arzalluz, professor of Latin Philology at the UPV / EHU, translator of the latest edition of this paper. As a specialist in Petrarca, his dissertation served to contextualize the author and delve into the document.
